Photos of Simply Thai - Thai Restaurant

Getting in, my knowledge of Thai cuisine was limited only to noodle soup and that it would always be prepared with strong aromatic components, herbs and spices, just as we Filipinos love our meal to be sour, salty and sweet maybe little spicy. Anyway, I thought I should let my senses guide me, and ordered what looked good on the photos shown in the menu.

Photos of Cafe Batwan

Batwan is a sour fruit that is widely known in the Western Visayas region as an essential ingredient for kansi (beef broth), tinola, sinigang and other dishes that need tartness or a certain spike in soupy dishes.

There was a time I had difficulty describing what it was to my friends in Manila, but that was then. It’s great to know that batwan is finally becoming more popular among the non-Ilonggos in the metropolis, especially now that Chef JPs Anglo of the Sarsa Group calls his brand of new food venture Kafé Batwan, in partnership with his sister Tracie Anglo Dizon. This contemporary café-cum-restaurant let stands proudly at the Joya Lofts and Towers in Rockwell Center, Makati City.

Photos of Tsokolateria in Baguio

Nothing hits the spot like warm hot chocolate on a cold weather. Actually, hot or cold, in whatever form, chocolate will almost always hit the spot on both good days and bad days. One of the best comfort food one could ever hope to find, chocolate‘s charm will never fail to bring warmth to our hearts (and stomach). So with that in mind wouldn’t it be nice if chocolate could just get on any and everything that we eat? Or at least that’s my sentiment. So one would imagine how Baguio’s Tsokolateria Artisinal Café has created paradise for a sweet tooth like me.

Photos of Oh My Gulay Baguio

The classic ‘tourister’ question I get whenever people I know come up to Baguio is “where are all the good food joints?” and even if there is a restaurant named “that damn good sick joint” I always find myself answering “OMG” literally, actually, because one of my most favorite restaurants the entirety of Baguio is Kidlat Tahimik’s Artist Café/Restaurant, ‘Oh my Gulay’.

A classic Vegan café/restaurant serving only the finest and freshest produce of Benguet, which says a lot since a huge amount of produce in our local marketplace and grocery actually comes from our friends from the North.
